At Youthority, we’re building tools that support, not surveil, young people. Tools that balance independence with safety. Tools that trust teens to make decisions, while helping them stay connected to the people who care most.
Our first major product is Kon-X, a location-sharing and safety app designed specifically for young people aged 10-24.
Unlike traditional tracking apps, Kon-X puts them in control.
They choose:

It’s not constant surveillance. It’s about conscious, intentional connection.
And at the heart of Kon-X is one of our most important decisions:
We use groups, not just individuals, for sharing location and sending safety alerts.
Why Groups?
When a young person is in distress, relying on just one person isn’t always enough, or safe.
That’s why Kon-X is built around support circles: trusted groups of people chosen by the young person themselves.
Here’s why its important:
1. More people = faster help
In an emergency, time can be crucial.
Sending a “Help Me” alert to a group increases the chance that someone will respond immediately.
Phones go flat. People are driving. Life happens. A group gives the message more eyes, and more opportunities to be seen, fast.
2. It shares the responsibility
Too often, teens lean solely on their best friend when they feel scared or overwhelmed. But that’s a lot to ask, especially of another teen.
Groups spread the load so no one person is responsible for “fixing” the situation. Everyone brings something, and the young person knows they’re supported, not a burden.
3. Groups help each other notice concerns
Support isn’t always about emergencies. Sometimes it’s a worrying message, a quiet withdrawal, or a gut feeling that something’s off.
In a group, anyone can raise a concern about a friend and ask others to check in. That kind of early intervention can change the outcome entirely.
4. It creates emotional safety, not just physical
When a young person sends an alert and multiple people show up, the message is powerful: You’re not alone. You matter. We’re here for you.
That kind of emotional safety is crucial, especially for teens navigating stress, anxiety, peer pressure, and the uncertainty of growing up.
It tells them: You’re seen. You’re valued. You’re held.
5. Different people offer different strengths
Every person in a young person’s life plays a different role.
- A parent might offer a lift home, or calm communication.
- A friend might be the one they trust most in the moment.
- A mentor might have experience with crisis situations or advocacy.
- A sibling might just know how to make them feel safe.
When all these people are part of one trusted group, the young person has access to a full circle of support, not just one limited option.
Why Connection Matters So Much
This design choice is deeply intentional. Because above all else, young people need connection.
They need to know:
- They belong.
- They’re not a problem to be fixed.
- They’re supported and cared for, even when things get messy.
A sense of belonging is one of the most protective factors in a young person’s life. It improves:
- Mental health
- Resilience
- Decision-making
- Confidence
- And reduces risky or self-destructive behaviour
When a young person feels emotionally connected and seen, they’re more likely to ask for help, to speak up, to pause before taking a risk, because they know they have people behind them.
